The reports of violence and accidents that occur on an almost daily basis illustrate how peaceful school life can suddenly be disturbed by traumatic events. This publication provides information about traumatic events and the way in which the school can respond. It offers guidance on compiling a scenario book. The information contained in this publication is based on professional literature about traumatic events; on the experiences of school managers, teachers and social workers in the Netherlands who have had to cope with similar events at their schools; and in addition, on the experiences of schools in other countries.
